Gweru -The City of Gweru is in total shutdown today with a heavy Police and Army presence.

All entries into the city are manned by the police and security forces. A few shops are open and these are Pick and Pay, DCK, Bata and Choppies, according to surveys conducted by The Mirror.

The situation is tense in the high density suburbs where soldiers are not only patrolling but have maintained a heavy presence. The streets are deserted as people have remained in doors in fear of the soldiers.
