MASVINGO โ€“Gutu and Mwenezi Rural District Councils (RDC) are completing their budget consultations this week.
Gutu RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alexander Mtembwa and his Mwenezi counterpart, Albert Chivanga confirmed the developments to The Mirror.
Both councils are conducting consultations without a proposed budget and the budget figures will only be available after they conduct consolidations and factor in residentsโ€™ contributions.
โ€œWe are finishing our consultations today. After that we will do a consolidation, which will consider input from residents and other stakeholders. Council committees will meet afterwards and also give input into the budget. This will be followed by a full council meeting next week where the finance committee will present a budget for adaptation,โ€ said Chivanga.
Mwenezi RDC has a ZWL$4 billion budget for the 2023 financial year.
Mtembwa said Gutu RDC has a US$6 million budget for the 2023 financial year.
โ€œOur final consultations will be held at Mpandawana Business Centre on Thursday and Friday. After that the finance committee will deliberate. There will be other internal processes before the budget is put up for adoption. Our processes should be concluded by November 17, 2023,โ€ he said.
