MASVINGO-A Gutu family is appealing for assistance after their four huts, livestock and belongings were destroyed by a veld-fire.
The ten members of the Mutasa family of Bensly Farm, Ward 7 in Gutu, are getting food, clothes and shelter from other villagers.
Arsenia Mutasa (75) told The Mirror that his family is now despondent. The veld fire destroyed the homestead on August 16, 2023, around 4 p.m.
He is not employed and together with his wife, Stembile (62) look after their children and grandchildren.
“We have nothing. Our grains, goats and chickens were destroyed by fire. Other villagers helped us with shelter, food and clothes. I look after ten people, my children and grandchildren.
“I am appealing to well-wishers to assist us with clothes, blankets, food and building materials. We have nothing and I don’t know how my family would survive,” he said.
Those who want to assist the Mutasa family can contact The Mirror Helpline at 0716895703/0775691380.
