Greenfuel registers first win of the season

CHIPINGE – Debutants Greenfuel FC registered their first win of the season after beating Tonderai Ndiraya’s Simba Bhora at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.
A solitary first half strike from Washington Mapuya was enough to hand the ethanol boys their first win of the season.
The win was crucial for the Chisumbanje based side after a poor start to their maiden season.
Greenfuel who have changed coaches thrice in one and half months had gone for six games without collecting maximum points.
First it was Lloyd ‘Samaita’ Mutasa who presided over the team’s 1-0 defeat to Yadah FC in their opener.
He was then ‘promoted’ to technical director and was replaced by his deputy Bekithemba ’Super’ Ndlovu.
Under Ndlovu, Greenfuel fell 2-1 to Manica Diamonds and 3-0 to Hwange as well as two 1-1 draws with Herentals and new boys Sheasham FC.
Last week Greenfuel lost 3-2 to Ngezi Platinum and Ndlovu was fired and immediately replaced by former Ngezi Platinum coach Rodwell Dhlakama.
It seems Dhlakama has come in with a bit of luck after collecting his first set of maximum points in his first game.
Club chairman Fredson Moyo praised Dhlakama for the win. He also added that the club has a long term plan with Dhlakama.
“The gods have finally smiled at us. It was long overdue for us to get maximum points. Kudos to the new technical leadership. They are playing to win. It’s difficult to start and get a win on day one. Incredible performance from the boys and the coaches. We have a long term plan with Dhlakama. This year we are playing to survive relegation,” he said.
