HARARE- Yadah FC gave new boys Greenfuel FC a reality check at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday as the ‘ethanol boys’ lost 1-0.
Greenfuel were made to rue all their missed chances after Yadah’s Mandlenkosi Mlilo scored in the first half in what turned out to be a bad day in office for Coach Lloyd ‘Samaita’ Mutasa in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Mutasa could not hide his disappointment in an interview with The Mirror Sports and said his charges could not score from the few chances that they created.
“We had a slow start to the 2023 league. Yadah got their chance and managed to score. We also got a clear chance in the first half but failed to score. The second half was better but we fluffed the chances we got,” he said.
However Mutasa says they have shifted their focus to the next game against Herentals FC at Gibbo stadium.
Greenfuel will be playing their home games at Gibbo stadium as they wait to finish the refurbishment of Greenfuel Arena Stadium which has a carrying capacity of 10 000 people. Work at the stadium is at an advanced stage and ‘ethanol boys’ could play their home games in Chisumbanje soon.
Mutasa said playing home games at Gibbo stadium could be challenging but he is confident of coming up with good results.
“The game was an eye -opener. I noticed some grey areas we need to work on. We have some days from Wednesday to Saturday to work on ourselves and bounce back.
“We are really looking forward to the next game over the weekend. Playing at Gibbo stadium could be challenging but we will work with what is there and produce good results,” said the former Dynamos FC coach.
Despite a slow start to the league the team’s target is to finish in the top 5. Their dream is to become one of the most professionally run clubs.
