CHIPINGE – Greenfuel head coach Bonginkosi Dube says her charges are focused on maintaining a top two finish as the Premier Netball League (PNL) resumes action this weekend.
The Chisumbanje-based side finished second with 66 points from 36 matches and Dube says she’s building up where they left off last season.
“We have done pre-season strength and conditioning training. Technically, we are building up where we left off last season. We want to maintain a top two finish. We have a competitive team and we want to see considerable individual player growth,” she said.
Dube took over the reins at Greenfuel in 2021 and the club has contributed several players to the Under-19 and senior national teams.
She also confirmed that her club has four new signings and three departures ahead of the season.
“We have welcomed the following members to our Green fuel netball family– Kudakwashe Muchengi and Natasha Rambiwa both from Harare City, Beatitude Ngwenya from Beitbridge Mighty Stars and Faith Zambada from Beitbridge Border Stars.
“We have said farewell to our vice-captain Catherine Kekala who has taken a sabbatical from netball, Lynette Dhliwayo who is chasing other carrier options and Shantel whose health condition requires her to abstain from active participation in sports,” she said.
PNL secretary general Liberty Mhizha told Mirror Sports that 20 teams are battling for top honours in this season.
“We have a total of 20 teams. Our league is on this Saturday and will be played across the country,” he said.
