CHIPINGE -The Chisumbanje-based side Greenfuel FC kept their quest for PSL promotion alive on track after dismissing tenth-placed Renco Mine FC 1-0 in a match played in Renco Mine over the weekend. After the win, Lloyd ‘Samaita’Mutasa-coached side moved six points clear of second-placed Mutare City Rovers with 44 points. Leroy Murape, younger brother to former Dynamos FC captain Murape Murape was on target 31 minutes into the first half.
The ‘Ethanol Boys’ showed determination to join the top-flight league as they maintained their grip on top of the log in the Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) after 17 games.

Mutasa applauded his charges for a job well done.
“My boys did well. We just picked up from where we left before the first half break. Seventeen games without a defeat show hard work and great commitment. We want to continue with the fine form. It was a good game away from home, and the results were good,” he said.
Green fuel started their second-half campaign on a very high note last week after they ran riot, thumping struggling Lowveld FC 6-0. This weekend they will host Mutare City Rovers FC at the Greenfuel Arena.
Mutasa hopes to come up victorious.

“We are meeting Mutare City Rovers this weekend at home. We have started our preparations for the weekend game. We started our training today, and we will see which areas need attention as the week progresses,” he said.
Elsewhere second-placed Mutare City Rovers was held to a one-all draw by visiting Ruwa Progroup FC at Sakubva Stadium on Friday.
The municipal-owned side coach Kennedy ‘Bokande’ Kachara believes his charges still have a chance to gain promotion. Kachara who guided ‘Gusha Bhora’ as Mutare City Rovers are affectionately known, into the elite league twice says he still has a chance to do the same this season.

“We are still maintaining our goal of gaining promotion. We know we will reach there. We are working very hard. My squad is strong, and we did not take a mid-season break, we continued perfecting the squad,” he said. Kachara also started his second half campaign with a 1-0 over flamboyant side FC Mazodze last week.
In other matches played over the weekend, Melfort FC beat JM Busha 1-0 while Zaka Academy lost 1-0 at home to Ruwa Progroup.
