BUHERA – A Grade 5 pupil from Chapanduka Primary School in Buhera has won herself a scholarship from President Emmerson Mnangagwa after reciting a moving poem on the opening of Marovanyati Dam on Wednesday.
The poem titled Ndinokutendai got everyone on the edge and Lyzette Munzveda gripped attention with her flawless presentation and confidence.
Mnangagwa pledged a scholarship that will take the girl right through university.
After the presentation Munzveda got a round of applause from the strong crowd.
Marovanyati has storage capacity of 50 million cubic metres and is on Mwerihari River, a perennial river with an annual flow of 182 million cubic metres.
The dam will be used to irrigate 1 250 hectares and create employment and tourism opportunities.
The girl performed at similar big events in the past including one where the late Perrence Shiri was a guest of honour, the opening of Buhera district Cottco depot and the opening of a honey processing factory at Chapanduka. https://masvingomirror.com
