Gov donates soap to rural Councillors

CHIPINGE –Government has donated soap (green bars) for personal use by Chipinge’s 30 rural district councillors.
Chipinge Rural District Council chief executive officer, Blessing Mamvosha said the 300 green bars (10 for each councillor) were for the personal hygiene of the councillors since they are at high risk of Covid-19.

He said soap and water would be placed at strategic positions at the councillors’ homesteads since they receive a lot of visitors.
In addition to the soap, the councillors also received 60 x 20l buckets.

The donation which was delivered on Thursday came from the Ministry of Local Government through the District Development Co-ordinator.

“There is a great risk for our councillors so we need to protect those who will be coming to the councillors and the councillors themselves,” added Mamvosha.

Ward 30 councillor, Nelson Ndhlovu applauded Government for the donation.
“We receive many visitors and this will safeguard them and our families from the deadly Covid-19.”

Council chairperson, Patience Mlambo urged her fellow councillors to use the buckets at gatherings like funerals and traditional courts in the fight against Covid-19.
