Good Samaritans to help Buhera family that lost children in fire

BUHERA – A group of former students under the banner of Buhera United have come together and raised money to build a two-roomed house for a family that lost four children in a fire on April 14, 2021.

Buhera United coordinator Tatenda Chinoda Dhege confirmed the initiative and said construction of the house for the Machaka family will start soon.

The former students of Chikuvire Primary and Buhera High schools have so far contributed RTGS$38 869, USD$160 and R200 to buy building material for the project.

“We have bought the building material for the construction of a two-roomed house for the Machaka family which lost four children to fire.

“The family is still mourning and will start construction work once the mourning period is over,” said Dhege.

The Machaka family lost 6-year-old twins Tanyaradzwa and Takudzwa Machaka who were burnt to death after the hut they were sleeping in caught fire.

Rumbidzai Chikomo (13) and Tinotenda Machaka (3) died at Murambinda Hospital hours later.

The association has members in Zimbabwe, the UK, Botswana, Australia and South Africa.

The organisation is also paying fees for several students in Buhera.
