MASVINGO-The Mayor’s Christmas Cheer fund which was launched on November 2, 2022 received another huge donation this week after golfers in Masvingo donated US$4.5k. This was after the golfers held a tournament at Masvingo golf club on December 7, 2022 in support of the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer fund which attracted thirty-six golfers from Masvingo, Renco and Zvishavane.

The Mayor’s Christmas cheer fund is held every year, and is aimed at raising funds that will be channeled towards  the less privileged. The targeted beneficiaries include Alpha Cottages, Kapota school for the blind, Henry Murray School for the deaf, Ratidzo Zimcare Trust, Mucheke Old People’s home, Jairos Jiri Association, and Zimbabwe Parents of the Handicapped Children.

The Mayor received US$4.5K from Masvingo golfers, 500 kg maize from women representing war veterans, US$500 from Makova family, groceries and cash from N.Richards and also clothes from individuals.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Masvingo City Mayor, Collen Maboke, expressed gratitude towards the sponsors saying that the donations will go a long way in helping the less privileged.
