Gokwe man to serve community service for dangerous driving

GOKWE – A Gokwe man was sentenced to 315 hours of community service for hitting two pedestrians after failing to control the vehicle he was driving.
Obey Charamba (33) will perform to be perform the community service at Musoro Primary School in Gokwe.
Magistrate Grace Tupiri sentenced him.
The victims of the accident of the January 9, 2024 are Edwick Jack (53) and Shannel Chatakadza (9). The accident happened in Gokwe Town.
Charamba was driving a white mazda pick up B1600 with five drums of water coming from Sesame river. Upon reaching a junction, he failed to control the vehicle and hit the two.
In coming up with the sentence, the court considered that the victims did not sustain permanent injuries, the accused was a first offender and he did not waste court’s time.
