GOKWE – A Gokwe man who stabbed a patron as retaliation after the man stabbed sister-in-law at Puzza Dollar Night Club, Gokwe has been sentenced to 25 years in jail for murder.
Nkululeko Ndebele (25) of Nyaradza, Gokwe Town was convicted of murder with actual intent after a full trial by Justice Garainesu Mawadze at the Circuit High Court in Gokwe on Wednesday.
Ndebele stabbed Vitalis Dekesa (22) and he succumbed to the injuries after a few hours.
He stabbed him as retaliation after Dekesa stabbed his sister-in-law Joyce Mafa who was also drinking beer in the same club.
The incident happened on June 28, 2024, around 10pm.
Ndebele denied the charge and accused other unknown people of killing Dekesa.
Circumstances are that Dekesa called Mafa who was also drinking beer in the beer and stabbed her on the chest when she came close.
Mafa was rushed to the hospital by Osama Chokoto, a taxi driver where she was treated and discharged on the same night.
Ndebele heard about the incident and went looking for Dekesa. Some revelers showed him Dekesa at the club.
Ndebele dragged Dekesa outside the club and stabbed him with a knife before dragging him to a nearby Agriculture Business Center.
Dekesa was found lying in a pool of blood by Morris Kambanje and Angel Mukunga who rushed him to the local hospital where he died.
Malvin Musarurwa prosecuted.
