GOKWE – Chief Chireya born Henry Chidzivo has opened the Good Hope Disability Trust which is located at Chireya Mission Hospital.
The Centre was opened last year and it enrolls over 20 students at a time.
The Center trains PWDs in areas like welding, carpentry and sewing. The Trust is headed by the Chief and it has teachers who are sponsored by a Kadoma -based business tycoon Spancer Tshuma. The PWDs stay at the Hospital and classrooms are provided by the institution.
“We launched and registered the Good Hope Disability Trust located at Chireya Mission Hospital.
“The project is to ensure people with disabilities get equal access to opportunities. We want to remove stigma and discrimination by making them realise their full potential,” he said.
Tshuma donated US$8 000 for the establishment of the home, said Chief Chireya.
Tshuma said he is supporting the project because he wanted to make sure that people with disabilities are empowered and are not left behind.
One of the beneficiaries Edna Moyo thanked the traditional leader for the support.
“We are very much grateful for the chief’s programme which seeks to empower us .
“This Trust has been helping us and we are now able to do our own things through the short courses we did at the Mission,” she said.
