Gokomere wins Catholic schools choral competitions

MASVINGO – Gokomere high school choir has won the 2024 Roman Catholic Church Masvingo Diocese run schools choral competitions and will represent the diocese at the national competitions set for Gokwe in September.
Gokomere won in its backyard at the Catholic Schools Association (CASA) choral and sport competition held at the school on Friday and Saturday.
Silveira High came second with St Anthony’s on third position. Both teams will also contest in Gokwe.
Masvingo Catholic Diocese Education Secretary, Fr Samson Mutsvanga was the guest of honor.
This year’s competitions run under theme: Enlarge the Space of your Tent.
For coming out tops, Gokomere received a trophy and a certificate. Silveira and St Anthony also received smaller trophies and certificates.
The prizes were sponsored by Gramsol publishers and Eduloan.
Silveira high school choir conductor, Bright Kapfunde was voted the best Choir Conductor and he walked away with US$30. Gokomere’s Charity Jinjika was adjudged second and received US$20.
St Anthony’s Keen Mashwete came third and received US$10 prize money. The conductor’s awards were sponsored Fr Mutsvanga.
Kapfunde said it was an honor for him to be the best Choir Conductor.
“I am very happy today that I won and it is an honor for me with my choir members,” he said.
