Masvingo – Four Gokomere High students have scooped the first prize at the Orate Africa Debate and Quiz Competitions, African Chapter held in Dar-Es Salaam, Tanzania from 10-19 December, 2022, the school head Acquanos Mazhunga has confirmed.

The students who are all boys namely Tinovongaishe Hungwe, Tafadzwa Kwangware, Misheck Mawere and Tinovimbanashe Virira represented Zimbabwe after contesting at the national chapter that was held in Mutare during the third term.  

They flew to Tanzania where they also met the Zimbabwe Ambassador to that country Anselem Sanyatwe in the company of their teacher Lilian Mazobere.

The period has also been a bumper of successes for Gokomere as another student, Samantha Chivasa was in Blantyre, Malawi for the regional Spelling BEE Competitions. Winners of the competition will go to the next stage in the USA.

Thabani Siwawa, Tafadzwa Machingura, Tendekai Mufanebadza, Samantha Chivasa and Tanya Gambiza participated in the Junior Achievement Zimbabwe Competition and were on the verge of qualifying for the African Chapter which will be held in Lagos.

Talented Bret Munyai who composed a popular song will participate in the National Producer Music Competitions in Harare.
