GWERU – Rainbow Netball League (RNL) champions, Glow Petroleum Queens are seemingly unstoppable in their bid to retain the championship title this season after dominating Saturday’s RNL Redcliff bubble.
The team thrashed Ruwa Queens 100 – 25 and hammered Belvedere Technical College Queens 136 – 20. The bubble was held at Torwood Netball Court in Kwekwe.
Glow’s Goal Shooter (GS) Christine Kadandara won the golden hand in both matches netting 67 and 51 scores respectively.
Ruwa consoled itself with a 53- 42 win over Belvedere Technical College.
Siachitema applauded her team for winning all games as they seek to retain the RNL title.
“My team played extremely well, they played according to instructions and won as a team. Our target was to have many scores and they managed to do just that.
“Goal difference also comes in handy especially considering that we drew against Correctional Queens. For now I cannot tell whether we will defend the championship or not. But our wish is to defend the title again for the fourth time”, she said.
Ruwa Queens coach, Mellissa Dengesi said she was impressed with her team’s performance.
She however, bemoaned lack of sponsorship that is affecting her team’s performance.
“We don’t have a sponsor and we get support from Ruwa Local Board in the form of transport and fuel and on match days we contribute a dollar, each for lunch and refreshments. I appeal to well-wishers to come on board as we need financial and material support to motivate the team. Netball is helping the young girls in Ruwa as it takes them away from early child marriages and drug and substance abuse,” she said.
