MASVINGO – Gift Amuli of the Wamatuka fame allegedly fleeced a local Beitbridge artist after he allegedly ran away from Sisterhood Gardens without giving the artist his share of the money after holding a joint show recently.
Edgar Tumbare, a Beitbridge based artist confirmed the matter to The Mirror. He said he has since filed a Police report.
Tumbare said Amuli disappeared without giving him US$315 that they had agreed on.
“Amuli’s manager Silent Makizuza phoned me and we agreed that I would arrange the show and US$100 was for the Public Address (PA) system and the venue. My share for the show was US$215. Amuli’s wife was collecting gate fees and they refused to jointly collect with my camp.
“We had a misunderstanding over that issue and said his team will handle everything. He promised to give us our US$315 according to our agreements but after the show he refused to give us the money,” he said.
Amuli refuted the allegations when contacted for a comment by The Mirror. He said Tumbare was bent on tarnishing on his name.
“My brother why you want to involve yourself in this case? Are you related to Tumbare? It was my show and you know people in Beitbridge are very troublesome. Tumbare wanted to tarnish my name. I will talk to you later right now I am busy,” he said.
