Former students refurbish Fletcher High clinic

Sydney Mubaiwa

GWERU-Fletcher Old Students Association (FOSA) has donated equipment to refurbish a clinic at the school.
FOSA has former students from 1980-2010.
The Association’s public relations officer Lenox Mhlanga said former students initiated and coordinated the clinic project to improve the school’s healthcare facility.
“FOSA members were moved by the sorry state of the school clinic and donated towards the refurbishment of the healthcare facility. The motive behind all this is to give back to the school. The donations include medical supplies, a geyser, a water storage tank and stand, paint and tiles for internal renovations.
“KDB Healthcare supplied hospital beds, folding screens, a double footstool, drip stand, instrument trolley, SECA scale Electronic 150kg and a digital BP checking machine worth US$1 588 while City Hardware has supplied tiles worth US$734.
“Green Park Irrigation donated a geyser worth US$1 300 and a water story tank with a stand worth US$1 .972 while State Vice Enterprises supplied paint worth US$ 480,” said Mhlanga.
Fletcher High School headmaster Elijah Mazula said FOSA has immensely supported the school through donations. He said the school standards are improving.
“We received the donation, and I am really grateful. Fletcher High is receiving immense support from FOSA. As a school, we are delighted and indebted to such a gesture. The move will go a long way towards improving health and learning standards of our pupils,” he said.
Mazula added that the well-equipped clinic is awaiting an inspection by officials from the Ministry of Health and Childcare before it opens.
Fletcher is located in Gweru next to the Midlands State University (MSU) and Senga residential suburbs.
The school was founded in 1957 as a boys’ boarding school. It co-opted female students in 1982
The school offers places from form 1 to 6 sitting for Zimsec examinations.
