MASVINGO – Former Masvingo City Chamber Secretary, Lovemore Tanyanyiwa has succumbed to Covid-19 related complications The Mirror has learnt.
He was 74.
Tanyanyiwa died on Friday last week at his farm in Mazare area and was buried there on Sunday.
Tanyanyiwa served the City for 22 years from 1991 to 2012.
He joined Masvingo City on January 1, 1991 as a liquor undertaking manager and rose through the ranks to become Chamber Secretary, a post he held until the time of retirement.
Former Masvingo City Town Clerk Adolf Gusha who worked with Tanyanyiwa described him as a hard working and dedicated man.
“I am saddened by the death of Tanyanyiwa. He was a hard working man who proved himself and rose through the ranks till he was appointed chamber secretary. He was instrumental in investment promotion and in bringing SteelMakers to invet in Masvingo. He enjoyed his work and did not need to be supervised,” said Gusha.
Tanyanyiwa was appointed chief administrator and personnel officer in the chamber secretary department on June 1, 2003 and chamber secretary on April 25, 2005.
He was appointed chamber secretary after obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a local university in 2003.
Tanyanyiwa retired from Masvingo City as the chamber secretary on August 10, 2012 after he turning 60 years.
