Former Masvingo councillor Gapare in custody

MASVINGO – Former MDC–T Masvingo Councillor for ward 8 Misheck Mbovora Mutunhakuenda Magadzirenyika Gapare has been remanded in prison for allegedly selling a US$35 000 industrial stand in Victoria Ranch in Masvingo to two different clients.

Masvingo Magistrate Patience Madondo denied him bail today for fear that he would interfere with witnesses.

The stand involved is 1 521 square metres big and he will come back to court on May 18, 2021 for trial. Charles Ndlovu of Ndlovu and Hwacha Legal Practictioners is representing Gapare and Noel Mandebvu is representing the State.

Gapare first sold the stand to Takanayi Mureyi in 2006 for Z$101 Billion. He then sold the stand again to Freevest Private Limited Company Director Runesu Chivakire for US$35 000 in 2013.

Gapare is denying the charge.

He says he verbally revoked his sale agreement with Mureyi in 2008.

Madondo noted that Gapare and Chivakire are maternal brothers and there is therefore likelihood that if released he will interfere with witnesses.

Gapare argued that he did not know where Chivakire stays in Harare and Chivakare has also never been to Gapare’s house in Masvingo.

Gapare is the Chief Executive Officer of Great Geeeeees Global Investments.
