Former magistrate Mohamad gets ZWL$500k bail

MASVINGO –High Court judge, Justice Sunsley Zisengwe has granted former Gutu Magistrate Victor Mohammed ZWL$500 000 bail pending appeal after he was caged six years for shooting a patron in Gutu last year.
Mohammed was granted bail on Wednesday after serving four months of his sentence. He was sentenced to six years by Masvingo Regional Magistrate Bishard Chineka with an effective three-year sentence.
He was represented by Admire Rubaya
Mohammed was convicted of shooting Thomas Chadyoka of Hwiru, Gutu on March 26, 2022 following altercations over a sex worker.
At 5am on that date, Mohammed and Chadyoka were walking to Hwiru from In and Out Bar when the two squabbled over a sex worker.
Mohammed then pulled out a pistol during the scuffle and shot Chadyoka once on the left arm near the armpit.
