Former Buhera DEO Dondo dies

BUHERA – Veteran educationist Bensen Dondo who once served as Buhera District Education Officer (DEO) has died.

He was 71.

Dondo succumbed to cancer of the liver last Saturday at Murambinda Mission Hospital and was laid to rest at his rural home in Dondo Village under Chief Nyashanu.

He had been in and out of the hospital since he retired from service in 2015 until he breathed his last.

Buhera Schools inspector (DSI) Ndomupei Mutsigiri who worked with Dondo for 15 years described his death as a big loss.

Born in 1951 at Dondo Village, Dondo studied Primary Teacher Higher (PTH) Education at Kutama College in Zvimba, Mashonaland West and completed it in 1974. 

In 1975 he was deployed to teach at Mudzamiri Primary School in Buhera West. He was later promoted in 1976 to become school head at St Georges Mbundire Primary School in the same district 

In 1979 Dondo was transferred to St Moses The Prophet School and then became a Grade 1 teacher at Chirozva Primary School in Buhera Central.

He studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Education Planning and Policy with Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU).

He obtained a Masters’ Degree in Education Management with ZOU. In 2014 he was appointed the DEO and he retired in 2015.

He is survived by wife Patricia, 7 children and several grandchildren.https://masvingomirror.com
