CHIREDZI – Kizito Kasema (25), a fisherman who used an inflated tube to navigate Muteri Dam in Chiredzi as he was fishing with a friend drowned on Monday last week after the tube lost pressure.

His body was found after two days.

Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa confirmed the incident to The Mirror.

Sources told The Mirror that Antony Mhaka and Kizito Kasema went for fishing at Muteri Dam which has so far claimed numerous lives. They used inflated tubes to navigate further into the dam and they went in different directions.

Suddenly Mhaka heard Kasema calling for help as his tube lost pressure and he rushed to rescue him. He tried to help his colleague but it was too late as he had sunk into the water.

Mhaka reported the matter to Police and a thorough search was conducted but Kasema was not found.

On February 2, 2022 Tafirei Kashambe (49) a general worker at Hippo Valley Estates found Kasema’s body floating in the dam.

The postmortem was waived by Chiredzi Magistrate Brian Munyaradzi.https://masvingomirror.com
