MIDLANDS – The wait is finally over! Sheasham Football Club have been finally crowned the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Central Region Division One champions, a month and half after the league had been completed.
Sheasham were crowned champions on Saturday during the Central Region awards that were held in Gweru.
The Central Region Division One league finished on August 21, 2022 but Sheasham were not accorded the trophy due TelOne’s appeal over an illegible player.
In an interview with Mirror Sport, Sheasham FC Media and Liaison Personal Elias Maginya said they are happy for finally been accorded the trophy they worked hard for.
“This makes our campaign made promotion complete. It dismisses a lot of misconception especially from social media. Having the medal in one’s hand and the trophy in our shelf really makes us proud”, he said.
TelOne FC’s appeal case against Sheasham FC for using an ineligible player this season was moved from the region and taken to the Player Status Committee and since then the case has been on mute with speculations running that points will be deducted but however all the air was cleared on Saturday with the construction boys finally laying their hands on the trophy.
TelOne who were second on the log had appealed against Sheasham who were the log leaders for using Tawanda Alexander Chikore in five matches when he was also registered with Caps United.
TelOne wanted points deducted from Sheasham FC in the matches that the team used the illegitimate player.
The season ended with Sheasham leading the log on 60 points, while TelOne was trailing by 3 points.
