CHIKOMBA — Two people who died after a Toyota Hilux double cab vehicle they were travelling in overturned at the 110km peg near Featherstone along the Harare – Masvingo Highway last Friday are yet to be identified.
Mashonaland East Deputy Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere confirmed the matter to The Mirror.
He said one passenger died on the spot whilst the other succumbed to severe injuries upon arrival at Chivhu General Hospital.
Circumstances are that the vehicle had eight passengers on board and the driver lost control of the vehicle upon approaching the 110 km peg.
The vehicle overturned three times before landing on its wheels. One of the passengers died on spot and the other succumbed to injuries upon admission at Chivhu General Hospital.
Other passengers sustained severe injuries and were admitted at the same hospital.
“Drivers should not over speed and try to follow stipulated speed limit,” said Denhere.
