MASVINGO – Masvingo-based outfit FC Wangu Mazodze came back fired up from the Eastern Region Soccer League mid-season break and defeated Renco Mine FC 2-1 in a league match played at Mucheke stadium last Saturday.
FC wangu Mazodze’s Charlington Tyomai was the first to record his name on the score sheet after scoring in four minutes from the first whistle and Kudakwashe Sibanda sealed Renco Mine’s fate by scoring a winning goal six minutes from the final whistle.


The win leap-frogged The Kingdom boys as FC Wangu Mazodze is popularly known from position nine to position seven in the current log standing after amassing 23 points from 17 games with six wins, five draws and lost six games while Renco Mine FC on the tenth position with 21 points from the same number of games played after winning five games, drawing six and losing six.
In an interview with The Mirror FC Wangu Mazodze FC spokesperson Sukuoluhle Ndhlovu said the team was pleased with the results of the game and hopes to maintain the rhythm until the end of the season.


“The Kingdom Boys played very well. They put out a great performance and deserved a win. We have started the season on high note and we are sure we will finish on a high note as well. The game was competitive; both teams wanted a win, and the Kingdom Boys managed to utilize a few chances that came their way,” said Ndlovu.
