ZVISHAVANE-The Zvishavane-based FC Platinum Holdings’ Catering and Hospitality department recently received its International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) certification 22000:2018 from the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ).
The ISO 22000:2018 Food safety management system was introduced by SAZ in 2018 and is a set of written procedures which define the stages taken by the food business operator to ensure that the food is safe to eat.
The certification means FC Platinum Holdings can now lure international clients. To get the certification FC Platinum Holdings sent 90 of its employees on a training program which ended in August 2022 .
Speaking during the ceremony FC Platinum Holdings General Manager Fanny Mafarachisi said he is happy with the certification as this will allow them to get more clients.
“We rely mostly on our hospitality department to sponsor our sporting teams. This certificate will help us to lure more clients so that we can generate more revenue,” he said.
Mimosa General Manager Stephen Ndiyamba said they get most of their meals at the mine from FC Platinum Holdings.
The function was attended by Mimosa General Manager Stephen Ndiyamba, FC Platinum Holdings Chairperson Dr Fabian Mashingaidze, FC Platinum Holdings General Manager Fanny Mafarachisi, SAZ Director of Certification Services Ranganai Mutonono and SAZ Head of Marketing Godfrey Dube.
FC Platinum Holdings was formed in January 2014 with the aim of supporting sporting initiatives in Midlands with FC Platinum as the primary beneficiary. The company has three operational divisions which are Labour Contracting, Mining and Engineering services and the hospitality services.
The FC Platinum-sponsored soccer and netball teams are currently dominating the Zimbabwean premier leagues making the leagues a one team race. FC Platinum won their fourth premier league title in a row, while their netball counterparts secured their third title for the third year running.
