CHIREDZI – Engineer Wesley Kauma is Chiredzi acting town secretary following the death of the incumbent on Wednesday last week.
Kauma who is the town engineer was appointed acting secretary by the late substantive secretary Charles Muchatukwa when he went on sick leave last month.
Kauma said he could not discuss the issue with The Mirror as councillors have the final say on what will happen to the position following the death of Muchatukwa.
“I am just an acting town secretary on a temporary basis because I was appointed by the late when he went on leave before he died. Now that he is late the council board has the final say on what will happen next. I am just helping like we always did when Muchatukwa was not around,” said Kauma.
United Chiredzi Residents and Ratepayers Association (UCHRRA) chairman Josphat Tizirai said although he welcomed Kauma as the acting secretary, he wanted the position filled with a substantive person as soon as possible.
Chiredzi Residents and Ratepayers Association (CHIRRA) chairman Jonathan Muusha however said Kauma should be given a chance.
