Engineer Kauma appointed substantive Chiredzi town secretary

CHIREDZI – The Local Government Board (LGB) has appointed Engineer Wesley Kauma as substantive Chiredzi Town Secretary.
A letter seen by The Mirror dated October 11, 2023, confirms his appointment.
“After thorough deliberations and taking everything into account, the Local Government Board was satisfied that Engineer Wesley Kauma had a distinct edge above other candidates in terms of experience and exposure.
“The Local Government Board on 14 July 2023, resolved that Resolution Ruling LGB 020/2023 and acting upon the power vested in the Board in terms of Section 123 as read together with Sections 132 and 135 of the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:15) approve the appointment of Engineer Wesley Kauma to the position of Town Secretary,” reads the letter.
Kauma also confirmed his appointment and said he would issue an official statement in due course.
“Yes, I received a letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works regarding the appointment. As a council we will issue official communication soon,” said Kauma.
He has been the acting town secretary since October 2021 after the late substantive secretary Charles Muchatukwa succumbed to COVID-19.
