GUTU-Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Gutu Central Ward 35 candidate Tendai Jebheni (36), is contesting against her former employer and Zanu PF candidate Benson Kurauone Dandira for the seat.
Jebhnei worked as Dandira’s accountant for two years until December 2022 when she opened her bottle store at Belna Shopping Centre, Dewure.
Dandira operates two supermarkets, a bottle store, and a bar at Mpandawana Growth Point.
Jebheni who started politics in 2007 told The Mirror that she has high hopes for a resounding win and is on the ground preparing for the August 23 elections.
“I have high hopes for a resounding win in the upcoming election. I look forward to initiating projects for youth which include fish farming and gardening. I will also ensure that the construction of clinics is completed, and the provision of adequate medication. I will also work towards the rehabilitation of feeder roads and ensuring that there are enough dip chemicals,” said Jebheni.
Dandira, a former councillor for the same ward who served two terms from 2002 to 2008 said he has no problem contesting his former employee.
“That is empowerment and she has that constitutional right to contest. We don’t block people to fulfill their ambitions. If resources are available we will ensure that there is efficient service to the people,” said Dandira.
