Elephant kills man in Chiredzi

CHIREDZI – An elephant charged at a scotch cart carrying a family at Chekwite Reserve in Mkwasine on Monday last week and pursued Isaya Tarusarira (46) whom it trampled to death.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case to The Mirror.
According to sources, Tarusarira, his wife Esther Tanyanyiwa (46) and their son were coming from a church service in a neighboring village. On their way they came across a bull elephant which charged against them.
They disembarked from the scotch cart and ran in different directions.
The wife and the son escaped while the elephant pursued Tarusarira. The other two reached home safely and at 8pm a search part was conducted for the missing person who was found crashed to death and covered by tree branches.
