BULAWAYO – El Ganado, a livestock consultancy company based in Bulawayo is conducting nationwide livestock practical training programmes.
Consultancy founder and Principal Livestock consultant Nqobani Manyabi told Two Nations in a telephone interview that they aim to cover at least 50 farms.
Manyabi said some of the topics to be covered include animal health, nutrition, breeding, general management and pasture establishment.
“Our hashtag is one farm at a time hence we go at the farmer’s place and train the farmer together with the farm staff. We take not more than 10 participants in one go.
“The training is tailor made to suit the farmers’ needs and scale of production. The training usually takes a day and it differs from farm to farm,” he said.
He said the program started last year and they have trained farmers in at least three provinces.
“We have done trainings in Gwanda, Beatrice, Insiza, Kensington, Gokwe, Masvingo and Plumtree among other places. Farmers can reach out to us to book for their farms.
“Costs vary from one farm to farm but our prices are affordable and sustainable. We are working on establishing offices in Harare and Bulawayo,” he added.
