BEITBRIDGE – PresidentMnangagwa has given his nod to the construction of an airport in Beitbridge Border Town.
Mnangagwa revealed this during the commissioning of the US$300 million modern Beitbridge Border Post.
He said he has already given the green light to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to identify the land for the location of the new airport.
“The little airdrome which is there is not suitable for this modernized town. I have agreed with the Minister of Transport to identify land where a new airport will be built,” said Mnangagwa.
The MP for Beitbridge East, Albert Nguluvhe had in July this year also appealed to the government for an airport in Beitbridge.
He made this appeal to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Felix Tapiwa Mhona during his tour of the rehabilitation of the Harare-Beitbridge highway with editors.
In his appeal, Nguluvhe said the airport was necessary because there is a lot of travelling between Harare and Beitbridge and Beitbridge and other cities.
