CHIMANIMANI-A drunk Chimanimani man died on New Year’s Eve after he was head-butted twice for slapping and provoking a bar patron at a local bar, Manicaland Police deputy spokesperson, Wiseman Chinyoka has confirmed.

Chinyoka said Wonder Munotsiwa (31) died after he was head-butted twice by Blessing Nyabowa (30). He died upon admission at Victoria Chitepo Hospital and Nyabowa has since been arrested.

The incident happened around 2:30 pm at Machongwe Business Centre.

Munotsiwa (31) of Pfumo Village under Chief Muusha, Chimanimani was hopelessly drunk and he approached Nyabowa of Dzingire Village, Chief Muusha and accused him of bragging.

Munotsiwa then slapped Nyabowa who head-butted him twice and he fell headlong  to the ground and unconscious.

Nyabowa left the bottle store and Right Muzama who was at the bar woke up Munotsiwa and sat him on a bench outside the bar.

Chinyoka said Munotsiwa fell unconscious again while sitting on the bench and bar patrons called his younger brother who took him to Nyahoda Clinic where he was referred to Mutambara Mission Hospital.

Munotsiwa was then referred to Victoria Chitepo Hospital in Mutare where he died upon admission,” said Chinyoka.

“The now deceased Wonder Munotsiwa who was hopelessly drunk saw Nyabowa having his beer at a bottle store at Machongwe Business Centre. He accused him of boasting around and went on to slap him on the face unprovoked.

“Nyabowa who was sitting down retaliated by head-butting him twice and he fell unconscious. He was later rushed to several clinics and hospital and died upon admission at Victoria Chitepo Hospital.

“Nyabowa was arrested on New Year’s Day in connection with this case and is assisting Police with investigations,” said Chinyoka.
