MASVINGO– Tafadzwa driving school instructor, Gerald Tevera, (35) appeared before Masvingo Magistrate, Ritaiswe Silaigwana, last week facing physical abuse charges after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.
The State led by Godfrey Mugondo heard that on January 1, 2023 at around 9:30 pm, Tevera of Msasa Street in Rhodene went to see his girlfriend, Portia Mlambo, who resides at 3899 Chesvingo Drive in Pangolin and knocked at her door but she didn’t respond.
He became suspicious and forced himself into the house and found Mlambo awake. This angered him and he slapped her several times on the face. A medical affidavit produced in the court showed that Mlambo sustained some cuts and bruises on her face.
Tevera pleaded guilty to the charges and Magistrate Silaigwana postponed the matter to allow the Community service officer to assess him if he is fit to perform community service.
