KWEKWE – The Diamond Ladies Volleyball Club will be hosting a national open tournament at the Zisco Club in Redclif, with over 16 male and female clubs from across the country expected to participate.
According to Nyaradzo Makuyana, the club spokesperson who confirmed the event during an interview with The Mirror, both women’s and men’s teams are welcome to compete in this open tournament. Moreover, she expressed excitement about holding such events annually.
“It is an open tournament and we anticipate both women’s and men’s teams to compete. We eagerly look forward to making this event a yearly occurrence,” she stated.
The Redclif-based club is currently in its debut season in the Zimbabwe Women’s Volleyball Premier League.
Winning clubs will receive cash prizes, trophies and medals as rewards for their hard work.
Sheasham, Itel, Midlands State University (MSU), Gweru and Kwekwe City councils have sponsored the tournament.
The club was established back in 2009; two of its players – Patricia Muzokomba and Jessica Makuyana – have earned spots on the national team roster.
