MUTARE-A Dangamvura man died after being hit with a brick on the head while trying to diffuse a bar fight.
Phillip Domingo (45) of 891B Two Rooms Area, Dangamvura, was struck on the head with a brick by Norest Zengeni (24) of Mundembe Village under Chief Zimunya.
Manicaland Police Spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident to Chipinge Times.
He said Zengeni struck Domingo with the brick after he tried to stop between him and Reji Kuhudzai.
Circumstances are that on Sunday around 3 am the duo was drinking beer at Open Boys Night Club, Bvirindi Shopping Centre in Dora.
Zengeni and Kuhudzai got into an altercation over an undisclosed matter. They began fighting using broken bottles. Domingo intervened and Zengeni struck him with a brick on the day.
Other patrons intervened and Zengeni, Kuhudzai and Domingo went to their respective homes.
Domingo told his brother Wilson on the next day that he had a terrible headache. Wilson accompanied him to file a report at ZRP Dangamvura where he was referred to Victoria Chitepo Hospital.
His health deteriorated and he died on Wednesday. Zengeni was arrested on the same day.
