Dangamvura businessman arrested for murder

MUTARE – Dhunza Nightclub in Mutare owner, Daniel Magaisa and three accomplices have been arrested for allegedly fatally assaulting a man whom they accused of stealing a cellphone.

The incident allegedly happened on Saturday at Boka Complex in Dangamvura.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrest of Magaisa, Kuda Chineuriri who is a bar patron and Blessing Makore who is employed as a security guard at the night club.

Assistant inspector Chinyoka said one accused person only identified as Wale is still at large.

On Saturday at around 2am, Chineuriri who was drinking beer at Dhunza accused Ashly Mbengani (26) of stealing his cellphone and he apprehended him demanding the phone back. Mbengani was a tout popularly known as Gaka in Dangamvura.

Chineuriri handed over Mbengani to Makore who handcuffed him and escorted him to the back of the night club. Makore and Chineuriri took turns to assault Mbengani demanding the stolen cellphone using open hands, iron bar and a wooden log all over his body.

Magaisa and Wale allegedly joined in the attack on Mbengani. The four left Mbengani lying unconscious behind the shop.

At 7:30am, Venenzia Mapuranga, who is also Magaisa’s employee discovered Mbengani’s lifeless body leaning against a wall behind the shop.

Mbengani had cut on the right ear, a swollen right hand, a bleeding wound on the left lower limp and bruises all over the body.

Makore was interviewed and he implicated Magaisa, Chineuriri and Wale as his accomplices.
