MASVINGO- Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi has denied alleged crystal meth peddler Mary Chisi bail. She did not give any reasons for denying her bail.
Chisi’s lawyer Omen Mafa of Mutendi, Mudisi and Shumba Legal Practitioners told The Mirror that Magistrate Hanzi did not give any reasons for denying his client bail and they are applying for bail at the High Court in Masvingo tomorrow.
“My client was denied bail and we were not given any reasons why the bail was denied. We have decided to apply for bail at the High Court tomorrow,” said Mafa.
Chisi was arrested by a Police drugs taskforce which seized 19 grams of crystal meth from her bedroom on Thursday last week.
She first appeared in court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to Tuesday. Her bail application was heard yesterday and Magistrate Hanzi reserved judgment to today.
Mafa told the court during the bail application that the crystal meth found in Chisi’s bedroom do not belong to her as she shares the room with her husband who is a soldier.
