Councilor donates to granny staying with disabled children



GOKWE – Gokwe urban Ward 5 councilor councillor, Philemon Ngwaya has donated groceries and clothes to an elderly woman who looks after her grandchildren and one of them lives with disability.
Mbuya Ema Penda who is unemployed stays in Mapfungautsi Suburb in Gokwe.
The parents of the children who lives with Mbuya Penda abandoned them in her hands.
One of the children is visually impaired and bedridden.
“I discovered that there is an elderly woman who needs our help as a community so I worked with my ward committees to get some groceries and clothing for the children and mbuya Penda.
“I am told her only son went to do artisinal mining somewhere last year but did not return and the mother of the children ran away living the kids with their grandmother who is not employed,” said Ngwaya.
Penda expressed her gratitude to councilor Ngwaya and his team for coming to her rescue.
“I want to thank you my children for remembering me and my grandchildren. It is not easy to look after the children on my own especially looking at the condition of the other child,” said Penda.
