MASVINGO-24-Hour-Medical-Centre, one of the leading private hospitals in Masvingo has joined hands with Sainte Aide, an Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) to build a community clinic at Dindingwe Farm, Ward 7 near Bushmead Turnoff.
The clinic which is nearing completion will be handed over to Government before the end of the year and the objective of the funders is to reduce the distance that villagers walk to the nearest clinic.
Boreholes have already been sunk and electricity connected to the place.
Sainte Aide spokesperson Joice Jachi told The Mirror that the clinic which is on a 20-hectare piece of State land will serve villagers from wards 7, 10 and 12 and will create employment for about 15 people.
Part of the 20 hectares will be used for agricultural purposes while educational buildings including a vocational center can also be put up there.
“We are giving back to the community, many people walk long distances to access medical services and we thought the location of the clinic will help the people who have been struggling to access medical services.
“Special thanks goes to Government for giving Sainte Aide land and permission to carry out its programs, Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira, Masvingo Province Medical Director (PMD) Amadeus Shamhu, Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development and Masvingo Rural District Council. Bikita Minerals also provided quarry for construction,” said Jachi.
