GOKWE – Two Gokwe women married to the same men were arrested on Thursday after they were found with four 20-litre buckets and a sack of mbanje.
John Mudhenda’s wives were arrested at their homestead at Siyachangura Village under Chief Simuchembo in Gokwe North with the dagga that was already processed.
Rosemary Siangumbula (47) and Queen Sijima (39) were arrested after Police received a tipoff that the duo was selling dagga. Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Mirror.
“The two women were arrested for illegal possession of dagga at their homestead on Thursday. They were arrested by a team of Police officers on patrol, following a tip-off,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Police searched Siangumbula’s hut and found four 20-litre buckets and a small plastic paper bag full of prepared dagga and her co-wife’s hut was also searched and a sack full of loose dried dagga was recovered.
The two suspects were taken to Gokwe Police Station.
The recovered dagga is being held as exhibits and its value is yet to be ascertained.
The police have warned members of the public against possessing drugs without licenses.
