Clipsham gold miners’ days numbered

MASVINGO– Gold miners at Clipsham Farm are likely to be evicted for causing untold environmental destruction and noise pollution to the residents.

The Minister of State and Devolution for Masvingo Province, Ezra Chadzamira has told The Mirror that tomorrow (Sunday) together with the Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Winston Chitando going to tour Clipsham area with a view to evict the gold miners.

“We are going on a tour with Minister Chitando so that he will have an appreciation of the damage that the miners have caused to the area. The mining that is going on there is threatening the water tanks which supply the City and the visit is likely to result in all the miners being evicted,” said Chadzamira without elaborating.

Masvingo United Residents and Ratepayers Alliance (MURRA) recently gave the City Council an altimutum to cause the eviction of gold miners as their activities may result in houses in the nearby and water tanks being damaged.
