MIRROR REPORTER

MASVINGO – Acting President Constantino Chiwenga will be at Njovo Wetlands in Zezai Village, Ward 18 in Masvingo Rural on Wednesday to officiate at this year’s World Wetlands Day.

Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira confirmed the development to The Mirror in a telephone interview.

The World Wetlands Day commemorations are held on February 2 every year.

Njovo Wetland benefits 500 people directly.

Njovo is one of the most protected and well-funded wetlands in the country and stakeholders include World Food Program (WFP) and Aqua Culture Zimbabwe. The Forestry Commission started an orchard for villagers, Allied Timbers gave the community beehives and Zimparks chipped in with some animal species.

WFP and Aqua Culture Zimbabwe assisted villagers with a weir where villagers are now doing fish farming and irrigating their 200-hectare nutrition garden and supporting poultry projects. https://masvingomirror.com
