Chiwanza appointed Young Miners Foundation patron


ZVISHAVANE – Harare based businessman, Dr Chamu Chiwanza has been appointed patron of the Young Miners Foundation (YMF).

The appointment is with effect from January 2021.

The Young Miners Foundation (YMF) is a trust organisation established in Zvishavane in 2010 to advance and scale up youths entrepreneurial participation in mining.

Chiwanza is the fourth patron of the organization. The first was the late Midlands Governor, Cephas Msipa followed by Taguma Benjamin Mazarire the managing director of Hilthru and Anna Mupawaenda has been the acting patron.

Mupawaenda will however remain a co-patron.

The strategic imperative is to fulfil the young miners’ dream which is to create a commonwealth of 21st Century Young Mineral Magnets.

YMF founder and CEO Payne Farai Kupfuwa confirmed Chiwanza’s appointment and noted the wealth of experience he is bringing to the organisation.

“Chiwanza accepted our request to be patron when we approached him in December 2020. He inspires us as YMF because in 2009, he came to Shurugwi for a youths economic empowerment workshop and we were impressed by his presentation”, said Kupfuwa.

Dr Chiwanza is a 40-year-old successful businessman who became the president of Affirmative Action Group (AAG), established various companies including SHIFT, Cernic Financial Group and other business enterprises outside Zimbabwe.
