Chivi – Chivi Rural District Council (RDC)’s $1,1 billion budget for 2022 has been approved by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works July Moyo.

The approval was confirmed by the local authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Tariro Matavire.

“I am glad to inform our stakeholders that our 2022 annual budget has been approved,” said Matavire.

The budget increased by more than 100% from $453 million in 2021 and the council expects to receive $427 million for devolution.

Matavire said last year’s budget performance was affected by COVID-19 that saw the local authority collecting just 65% of its target.

“We totally appreciate the early approval of this year’s budget by the Minister which enables us to embark on this year’s projects in the first quarter.”

Chivi RDC engineer, Ronald Mashapa said some major projects that the council will be undertaking include the installation of solar systems at council offices, construction of Simudzirai Clinic, construction of two Tugwi Mukosi staff houses and construction of two classroom blocks at Mhatiwa Primary School as well as Madamombe Hall at Mhandamabwe Business Centre. https://masvingomirror.com
