CHIKOMBA – Chivhu now has a town board which will operate independent of Chikomba Rural District Council (RDC).

This is confirmed in a letter to the local authority from the Minister of Local Government and Public Works July Moyo.

Chikomba will have its creditors and debtors separated from Chivhu. The letter which is in the hands of The Mirror states that the Town Board will be responsible for managing and leading developments in Chivhu Centre.

“In terms of section 57 of the Rural District Council Act (Chapter 29:13) I hereby appoint Chivhu Centre as a Town Board. The Town Board will be responsible for managing and leading development in Chivhu Centre,” said Moyo.

The Minister also appointed the team that did the assessments to assist the local Authority to operationalise the Town Board Committee.

The team will be led by the director of Rural Local Authorities C. Mudavanhu who is the chair. Other members are M. Mazani, J. Chauke and K. Mayoyo who were given 10 days to complete the task.

To assist in the distribution of assets between the RDC and the Town Board, apportion staff and come up with modalities for sharing of costs that are cross-cutting, separate creditors and debtors, ascertain the boundary of Town Board and review its Local Development plan in adherence to the Smart City concept.
