Chivhu film producer appointed Nollywoodetal panellist



CHIVHU- Prominent Chivhu born film producer Leonard Chibamu (39) has been appointed a Nollywoodetal panellist in Nigeria as Africa seeks to develop creative industry that upholds the business philosophy.

Chibamu who boasts of vast experience in the creative industry told The Mirror that he is happy to be one of the rising film industry experts who can meaningfully contribute and promote the new African film industry agenda to create economic fortunes.

“I am delighted to be identified as the country’s best rising film industry artist and in this honor, I hope to represent my country with distinction on the global arena. ” The opportunity will go a long way in growing my talent and unveil my innovation career which I have been promising for a long time,” he said. Besides being a passionate filmmaker Chibamu is also a media consultant with Leo- Chi, a company registered with the Zimbabwe Media Commission.

Chibamu is the writer, director and producer of films like Sequel, Zvoitwasei and Village Secrets a drama series currently showing on ZBC television. He has also written some film scripts namely; The Thicket Between Two Rivers, The Map on The Rock, I am a Model, The River Between. He had a word of advice to upcoming film producers that they should be patient and shun drug abuse which is a potential talent destroyer.

“I encourage upcoming film producers and artists to be patient and avoid taking drugs as they kill talent. ” To achieve the desired goals, one needs to work hard and sacrifice his or her pride for a better future as the film industry pays but not overnight,” he said.

Chibamu is a cross-disciplinary expert from finance to creative industry business as he holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Finance, a Master’s Degree in Finance from Great Zimbabwe University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate with the Catholic University of Zimbabwe majoring in film and creative related financing matters.

He is on Part C with the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators in Zimbabwe (CIS).

He is active in community work and has done a lot of philanthropic works in his home community in Chivhu especially with schools where he promotes creative work and played a pivotal role in the formation of Manyene Chivhu Creative Association which specialises in performing arts. Chibamu is married and has three children a boy and two girls.
