CHIKOMBA–Chivhu FC club which is one of the three clubs that has been invited to be part of the Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) is appealing for sponsorship as they are struggling to raise the affiliation fee to play in Division 1.
Chivhu FC once played in the league but pulled out due to financial constraints and from the looks of the things history might repeat itself if they fail to raise the affiliation fee. The team completed last season as runners- up with 51 points.
Speaking to The Mirror Chivhu FC chairman Marufu Madhuveko said the club is appealing for sponsorship to pay an affiliation fee of USD$ 2 500.
“We are at the verge losing that slot because we have been told lately that a number of teams have been invited, so the competition is now stiff Failure to pay our affiliation fee would mean we are going to lose out on the chance to play Division 1football.
“We are therefore appealing to the business community and all residents in Chikomba to come on board and assist us with affiliation fees and other expenses,” said Madhuveko.
Madhuveko also said Garwe stadium which they use for their home games needs renovations so as to meet ZIFA standards. He said he hopes the local authority will help to renovate the Stadium.
